Everyone at Floor Trends wants the installation of your new floor to go as smooth as possible. This check
list was designed to make sure there are no surprises on the day of installation. If after reading this checklist
you have questions, please call your salesperson at 800-NEW-FLOOR
All Installations
- Please remove all pictures,etc hanging on walls in the area to receive floor coverings
- Please have all furniture removed from the rooms to receive floor coverings. If you contracted Floor
Trends to remove your furniture, please have all small items, breakables and bedding removed prior to
arrival of installation mechanics.
- If you are to remove old floor coverings, please have this done prior to installation mechanics arriving.
- Improper clearance between doors and new floor covering must be correct by you, as the installers are
not permitted to do so.
- If you contracted with Floor Trends to remove your appliances, please make sure they are disconnected
prior to installation mechanics arriving.
- If you contracted with Floor Trends to take up your existing floor covering, it will be moved to a spot
designated by you on your property unless you have contracted with Floor Trends to dispose of it for you.
- If you have burglar alarm wires that are required to run underneath your floor covering or water lines in your floor, please inform the installation contractors prior to them starting your installation, as we cannot be responsible for damage to these items.
- Removal of railings, must be done by your prior to installation mechanics arriving at your home.
- Only rooms listed on your contract will receive floor coverings, if a room was omitted please contact
your salesperson.
- Please make sure areas receiving floor coverings are clean. This is especially important in bathrooms.
- Time stops cannot be guaranteed.
- COD's must be paid to the installation contractor prior to them leaving.
- Additional information can be found on the back of your salescheck.
- If you contract with Floor Trends to remove your toilet, Floor Trends will replace, if needed, supply lines
and wax ring. Floor Trends cannot guarantee against leaks on any plumbing fixtures.
Carpet
- Seam placement is left to the discretion of the installation mechanic unless specified in writing prior to
installation.
- There are no invisible seams. Please discuss seam placement with your salesperson prior to installation
day. Our installation contractors take pride in making seams as inconspicuous as possible.
- We take great pains to make sure no damage occurs to your paint. Small nicks may occur in baseboards do to the nature of installation. Please make sure you have touch up paint to take care of these very minor damages.
- Today's installation techniques do not require the use of shoe molding around the room. If you have shoe molding installed in areas to receive carpet, it is recommended that these be removed prior to installation and baseboards painted. painted prior to installation of carpet.
Vinyl, Hardwood, Laminate and Cork
- Vinyl, hardwood, laminate and cork installations require sanding and/or cutting. We recommend that all
areas adjacent to those receiving floor coverings be blocked off to prevent dust infiltration.
- Shoe molding is required on all vinyl, hardwood, laminate and cork installations as they are only installed close to the baseboards. If you currently have shoe molding installed Floor Trends will exercise every care in removing and reinstalling but, Floor Trends cannot guarantee against breakage. Installation con-tractors WILL NOT reinstall shoe molding not removed by them.
You can contract with Floor Trends to install new shoe molding. Please talk to your salesperson.
Ceramic
- Ceramic tile installation requires the use of cements and grouts. It is not unusual for a small amount
of the dust from mixing and the product itself from getting on the walls. Please paint these areas after
installation or have touch up paint available.
